The Beginning: Introductions and Primers

You won't see too many pics of me up on here....

But I thought I should introduce myself and let the bloggosphere (*pfff) know who I am. My name is Adam. This is my blog. Again.

I've got a few interests... image, identity etc was the simplest, I suppose, way of putting it. Basically I'll be posting and commenting on the things I care to at the time - photography, philosophy, politics, style, tech etc. etc. I'm pretty sure it's all the same. I'm just betting I can do it better.

This is the first post, so I'm gonna set a tag - primer - if I keep this thing up for a record setting month or more I'm pretty sure this tag will fit a few decent pages of a little blah blah blah and the occasional 'that was exactly what I was looking for'. I'm going to set this off with a few things in the past few months that have made my eyes open just a little wider than normal... and don't let the above photo mislead you - I'm a squinty kid.

Hipster PDA (circa 2004):

such a great break. Finally someone who helped with my PDA tech fetish. A few years ago this post helped cure me of 'buying-selling-hating-loving-buying-repeat' disease with stupid PDAs. School and a silly part time work schedule managed to gang up and convince me over and over again that I needed one - I used these things for two days before I stopped. Every time - I know you're all out there doing this. Such a lifehack. Click the pic to check it out. A little more analog is an idea worth exploring. I still won't use this thing though - it is a PDA after all.

Killer Graphics, visuals, photog delights:

Nodiktat is limited in offering but just under cutting-edge so everyone can think its just hip enough. Check out the posters section - the clothing is alright but the posters will hang in the dorm, loft, whatever. Click the pick.

Madame Peripetie - photography that is kicking ass compared to the usual. Working with fashion students to explore surreality, dysfunctionalism - well done. Her style needs some polishing but her concepts are great and her lighting is flawless. For visuals click on the pic.

Last man up:

If you check out RJD2's The Third Hand, there may be more than a few of you that feel a little disappointed. I don't mean the die hards either - I've met a few people that think that if there's a break beat somewhere on an album the artist is just counter-culture (*pop?) enough to be cool.... If you agree that it's fallen short of the previous albums, let me reiterate a friend's feeling about this new album: shit.

I appreciate trying to defy the labels and categories that one has been placed in based on past work. But common man, singing, guitar? I give an A for effort but really, I don't care if crate surfing for samples is tedious, it's your roots man. Get it together. Get an assistant, or an intern. The album's so far off I'm declaring a mulligan and I promise that I'll give your next album a listen with fresh ears man - just give me something like I used to get - music to sit and smoke to and a backdrop to these parties we all have to attend.

that's it for now.

more to come. I promised myself I'd make at least two posts.
